We here at Lindsay Cadillac of Alexandria can't get enough of the Cadillac Escalade, and neither can the drivers who choose to finance or lease one each day. Unfortunately, it seems that professional car thieves can't get enough of it either, though, as the vehicle was recently named as the most stolen truck in the United States today.
While this might be quite a burden for other automakers, we're glad to report that Cadillac parent company, General Motors isn't taking this new lightly. Rather, they're planning to fortify the Escalade with even more security measures to ensure that it stays in the driveway of its owners for years to come.
"The goal is to make the Escalade a very difficult target for thieves without any added inconvenience for customers," explains Bill Biondo, General Motors' leader for vehicle theft prevention. "The new systems work in the background and few people realize they are there."1
So what specifically can we expect to see in future Escalade models? For starts there will be a new vehicle key encryption system called Pass Key 3+ to thwart theft. Another feature will be a tougher steering column lock, making its almost impossible for would-be thieves to snag an Escalade by putting it on a flatbed truck. A new 'Inclination sensor' sets off an alarm when is senses a change of the vehicle's angle too, knocking out any chance that a thief could even tow it with a conventional truck too. And finally, a newer and more sensitive 'shock sensor' will sound when a thief even attempts to break a window, while stronger wheel locks ensure that your escalade won't move unless you're behind the wheel.
Will these features be available on older Escalade models? Right now, we don't have confirmation, but if they are, you'll be the first to know. After all, the more anti-theft measures you can equip your Escalade with, the less likely it is to be stolen.
Of course, if you're still considering a new Cadillac model, then we highly recommend checking one out on our lot at 1525 Kenwood Avenue Alexandria, VA 22302 today. Our team can answer any questions that you may be facing regarding vehicles like the Cadillac CTS, DTS, and SRX, and we can even outline the features and benefits of checking out our used car lineup too.
