Lindsay Cadillac of Alexandria Takes a Look at Some Presidential Rides

When we here at Lindsay Cadillac of Alexandria say that any new Cadillac model that we carry is fit for a king, we mean it. Though, maybe we should say that it's fit for a President. See, Cadillac actually carries a rather strong history with the leaders of our country, which is why we'd like to take a look at some of the most famous Caddy models to take on the responsibility of transporting our Commander-in-Chief.

We'll start off with Woodrow Wilson, back in 1919. He rode in a 1916 Cadillac Series 53 during a WWI victory parade in Boston.

Moving along to 1941, Franklin D. Roosevelt rode in an armored 1928 Cadillac Town Sedan, which was rumored to have previously belonged to the notorious gangster, Al Capone.

Two more Presidents, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower, also rode in two 1938 Cadillac Convertibles, while in office. Officially dubbed the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, these models were 2.15 feet long and weighed 7,660 pounds. Furthermore, these two Cadillac models were armed to the teeth, with weapons, two-way radios, and generators.

From the Reagan administration to the end of the Clinton administration, a 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood and Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham were used to transport the leaders of the free world. Today, the retired 1983 Fleetwood resides at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, while the Fleetwood Brougham resides at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock.

Then we have our current President. Based on the latest elements of Cadillac design, the "Cadillac One" officially debuted at President Obama's inaugural parade on Jan. 20, 2009.
